Welcome to “The Way Grant” submission page
We assume you’re here because you’ve identified a need in the world that inspires you to take action, and you want to win the opportunity to do something about it on our dime. We are excited to offer you this innovative and exciting new grant, and we look forward to hearing your idea!
You may ask why we are offering this grant. It’s because we believe that people should love one another as we would like to be loved. We also believe that we should spur one another on toward love and good deeds, and that is what this grant is intended to do.
If you win, you’ll be awarded a cash prize of $500 just for winning, as well as a $1000 expense account to implement your project!
Method to obtain grant: Submit an essay of no longer than 1 page (or 500 words) typed, and single spaced, describing how you would use $1000 to show love to others in need. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 28. The grant is only eligible to USF students, or other Tampa area students who are sponsored by a USF student or faculty.
You can structure your proposal however you please, but we ask that you include the following information somewhere on you proposal:
1) Your Name, Address, Phone #, Age, Email and / or facebook address.
2) A brief budget overview of how you will spend the money (this part will be discussed further if you make it to be a finalist).
3) Confirm that you are a current University of South Florida student, and if not please let us know who your USF student or faculty sponsor is.
Hint: please make sure your proposal is clear and understandable. We don’t need every detail, but we do need enough to know whether we want you to be our winner. We need to understand who, what, when, where, why, and how you will implement your project.
Here are some hints that will likely be part of the winning submission.
1) Be creative. While the winning idea might be quite simple, we also
encourage submissions to be creative if they can better address a need.
2) Community involvement. The winning submission will likely have a goal of
getting other students involved in your mission.
3) Low overhead. The winning submission will be wise with the $1000 expense account.
4) Future benefit. The winning submission will likely inspire your recipient(s) to love others as you have loved them with this project.
Proposals must be submitted via email no later than April 15, 2010 to: grant@usfcrosswinds.com
The winner will be announced on April 29, 2010 at 7:15pm at the Crosswinds Building, 12710 North 50th Street, Tampa, FL 33617 (across from the USF intramural fields). Attendance at the event is not required to win.
